4 Tips to become a conscious fashion consumer
Sustainability within the fashion world is a crucial aspect and one that is becoming very popular at the moment. The aim is to ensure that the fashion industry, which is one of the most polluting industries in the world, moves towards a more sustainable path and carries out practices that do not harm the environment, the ecosystem and that treats ethically all the people who take part in the process of making the garments. It is a long and difficult road but step by step it can be possible to achieve it.
"For a sustainable ecosystem, small contributions makes a big impact!"
From our point of view, we believe that achieving a 100% sustainable business model today is very challenging but on the other hand we firmly maintain that we can all do our part by changing certain things and doing our best as people and as fashion companies, contributing in this way to a very significant and powerful change.
1. Build up a wardrobe
Composed by basic, beautiful, timeless, quality garments that you can easily combine.
2. Prioritise and buy with common sense
Will I still like this garment when it goes out of fashion? Will I still wear it in other seasons? Do I really like it, and will I get the most out of it?
3. Be curious and do your research!
Who has made this garment? Where has it been produced? What practices does the brand I am buying from follow? Do they apply ethical and responsible codes throughout the production chain? It is very important to ask questions and carry out research because most fast fashion companies implement unethical practices with their workers in the supply chain.
4. Care for your environment
Never throw your clothes in the rubbish as it damages the ecosystem enormously, because most of the garments end up in landfills and there is an over saturation. Donate it, pass it on to relatives, swap it with friends or get creative and edit and mend what you don't like or what is broken!
